The Chonnam National University Center for Regional Development (CRD) was established in 1968. The center aims to contribute to regional studies with interdisciplinary research, including economics, sociology, urban planning, environmental studies, transportation sciences, etc. Our mission is to develop and implement research agendas that promote the center as a leading research hub in regional studies. The center provides the infrastructure, resources, education, and training to support collaborative academic activities and increase external funding of group research through the National Research Foundation (NRF), a primary research funding agency in South Korea. We aim to suggest practical models for sustainable regional development in the greater Gwangju Area, Korea throughout comprehensive research with a variety of fields, including economy, culture, education, environment, and urban planning.
