The 1st CRD-CEAS Joint International Webinar, co-hosted by the CRD and the East Asia Research Institute at the University of Nagasaki, was
successfully held using the digital platform ZOOM.
The main theme of the first joint international seminar was 'Social Economy and Regional Innovation,' featuring presentations and discussions from four speakers. In SESSION 1, Professor Tageda Age (University of Nagasaki) presented a research study on the economic power of
Hasamicho in Nagasaki Prefecture, followed by a discussion led by Professor Han-mo Jang (Dept. of Economics, Saga University). The session
also included a presentation on the topic "Creation of Community by Social Entrepreneurs - Linked by Fate" by Tashiro Tomoharu (Lecturer,
Dept. of Business Administration, University of Nagasaki), and a discussion by Professor Chan-young Lee (Dept. of Economics, Chonnam
National University).
SESSION 2 featured Professor Sang-ha Park (Gyeongsang National University) presenting research on the development of a social economy
model for the Gwangju region aimed at the middle-aged generation in the care field. The session also included a discussion led by Professor
Sang-ryong Cha (Director, Department of Public Policy, University of Nagasaki), and a presentation on the topic "Community Resources and
Regional Sustainability in Gwangju" by Hyun-jeong Min (Research Fellow, Gwangju-Jeonnam Research Institute), followed by a discussion led
by Professor Yamamoto Yukata (Department of International Business, University of Nagasaki).
Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 situation, both the CRD and the East Asia Research Institute at the University of Nagasaki
successfully utilized digital platforms to engage in in-depth academic research, sharing, and discussions on social economy and regional
innovation. Moreover, the webinar laid the foundation for ongoing academic exchange and collaboration between the two research institutes.
