The 37th Social Economy Colloquium co-hosted by the CRD, Sallim Social Cooperative, GwangJu Support Center for Social Economy, Gwangju
Urban Regeneration Community Center, and Chonnam National University LINC+ Project Team, was held on May 7th, 2019.
The invited speaker Dr. Ju-hee Park (Research Fellow, Yonsei University Institute for Poverty Alleviation and International Development,
translator of "The Ownership of Enterprise" by Henry Hansmann). Dr. Park delivered a special lecture on the topic "Implications of the
Evolution of Enterprise Ownership and Cooperative Success Factors and Strategies" based on the translated work.
Enterprises, composed of the sum of contractual relationships, strive to reduce the total transaction costs (contract costs and
ownership costs). The author argues that cooperatives are a good structure for minimizing such costs. Cooperatives are generally considered
advantageous for minimizing decision-making costs and increasing the likelihood of success due to the homogeneity of interests among
members.
