The 34th Social Economy Colloquium, co-hosted by the CRD, Sallim Social Cooperative, and the GwangJu Support Center for Social Economy,
was held on October 24th at the Sallim Community Hall. The invited speaker Chang-yoon Jeong (Director, Bori Cooperative), delivered a
presentation on the topic "Understanding and Examples of Cooperative Franchises".
The speaker compared cooperatives and joint-stock companies, discussed cases of cooperatives in the United States and France, provided
insights into the current situation of cooperatives in Korea, and explained three types of franchise cooperatives. He emphasized that franchise cooperatives, while facing challenges in securing investment funds, can build mutual trust relationships and serve as an alternative business
for self-employed individuals, where the headquarters' profits align with the profits of franchisees.
